It's well and good to suggest your student lose
weight, it's another to actually faciliate it. I
suggest you recommend him checking out a website
called bodyforlife.com to get him motivated. It is a
very good website by Bill Phillips, the author of Body
for Life. It is very practical, user friendly program,
and if followed even half, will get him results. There
is a diet section, a strength conditioning section,
and an aerobic section. He can substitute some tennis
for the aerobics part. Right now there is a contest
going on to lose body fat - a national effort, with
prizes etc. so this might be the jump start he needs.
Also support groups etc. The other good thing about
this program is it is sound, no gimmicks, based on
scientific principles of exercise & nutrition. If he
has a medical problem, diabetic, etc. he should first
check the program out with his doc for any potential
modifications. good luck!
